Each of the trainings listed below are FREE, however, you MUST register to attend.

PACE is sponsoring a series of Regional trainings focusing on current hot topics, legal implications and preventive measures.

Attending a PACE Employment Practices Liability Regional Training is one of the requirements for PACE members to qualify for year two of the 5 percent general liability premiums discount. We’ve planned trainings around the state to bring them closer to you (see below).

This four-hour training will cover common sources of employment liability from hire to fire, including new legislation impacting employment practices, veterans’ preference in hiring, background checks, employment contracts, employee social media use, protected class discrimination, complying with leave laws, accommodating employees with disabilities, conducting employment investigations, employee discipline, employment termination and resignation agreements and more in-depth issues like Weingarten rights and Garrity warnings.

PACE is also offering a series of regional trainings on sexual conduct and abuse, bullying, social media and cyber liability. This four-hour training will cover the sexual conduct and abuse training that is legally required for all state-operated programs that provide educational services to kindergarten-through-grade-12 students including school districts, charter schools, ESDs and community colleges (if K-12 students are served). The training will also cover how to identify bullying complaints, properly investigate those complaints and take appropriate action to avoid liability; liability associated with staff and student social media use, including when it is appropriate to discipline for off-campus social media use; and a discussion about how staff can avoid and address cyber-attacks and data breaches.

Light refreshments will be served. If you are interested in attending, please register online. (Click the "view all" link to see the PACE events).

If you have questions regarding registration, please contact Pamela Mullen, PACE Administration Assistant.
