PACE Safety Grant-SawStop & SawStop Blade Replacement Program
PACE grant funds made available to members for a third time to reduce saw injuries
Wednesday, September 20, 2017
Property and Casualty Coverage for Education (PACE) trustees voted in July to make Oregon schools more safe by tripling their investment in the SawStop® safety grant to $100,000.
Since 1986, PACE has recorded 43 school injuries caused by table saws. PACE Director of Risk Management Scott Neufeld says many of the safety features included in SawStop saws can prevent such user injuries.
Grants will be available to districts on a first-come, first-served basis, until the additional $80,000 for the SawStop and $20,000 for the SawStop Blade Replacement is exhausted, beginning July 1, 2017.
Saws bought with the grant money will be restricted to use by vocational shop classes or drama departments. To gain the new saw, the school will be required to dispose of any outdated equipment.
