Increase the visibility of barriers

PACE has seen an increase in claims involving cable and chain fencing. Barriers consisting of a single cable or chain stretched between two posts - usually designed to keep vehicles and pedestrians from entering certain areas - can be difficult to see.

To reduce accidents and injuries, all cable and chain barriers need to be clearly marked.

  • Paint each post holding the cable or chain bright yellow.
  • Paint the cable/chain bright yellow or sleeve it in bright yellow plastic pipe (contrasting colors).
  • At the center of each span between supporting posts, hang a bright yellow or orange sign from the chain or cable visible to the average driver or pedestrian.
  • Continually monitor all markings and replace or repaint as necessary.

PACE works closely with schools to ensure a safe and friendly place for your students, employees, patrons and voters.
