Oregon Winters: Not The Time for Boiler Breakdowns!

Although Oregon has seen unseasonably warm days lately, temperatures can still dip below freezing on a regular basis in late winter. Now is not an ideal time for boiler and other heating problems to arise. In addition to regular maintenance and repairs, those routine inspections conducted by your in-house staff are important, too. PACE's boiler and equipment breakdown insurance is purchased through Hartford Steam Boiler which has additional resources for your staff on preventative measures to take. In addition to the extensive materials available by Hartford, here are a couple of warning signs you can easily look for as well.

  1. Cluttered boiler rooms
Equipment that is inaccessible is not being inspected or maintained. Keeping boiler rooms free of clutter is important both to minimize fire loads but also to ensure staff can access equipment quickly.
  2. Standing water/constant condensation
Extra moisture in your boiler room can be a telltale sign of equipment problems. If moisture is noticed, its best to determine the root cause and correct it early.
  3. Cobwebs, open control panels, and spare parts
When things are out of sorts, it can be a simple indicator that not all is well. Questioning the reason a boiler room is not in order may lead to additional information indicating greater problems.

If you have elected boiler & equipment coverage, call Hartford Steam Boiler at 800.333.4677 to request a free inspection of your boiler equipment. Reference Policy #2298740.
