Dear Teachers and Friends,
O[yes], The Oregon Young Employee Safety Coalition, is recruiting high school students and teachers/mentors to attend the Youth Program at GOSH (Oregon Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Conference) on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. This exciting event will be held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland at no cost for students and teachers. We have begun a reservation list for teachers to sign up and expect to open the event to 100 students with teachers. We have great hopes that we will also have some school bus stipends available.
We know it is almost the end of the school year and you are likely maxed out! We also know that you need to plan ahead for next year's events. Should this Youth Program sound interesting to you for your students, please visit our
webpage. On this page view
the section under "What's New?" We are still determining the agenda for the day, but expect the attending students to attend the Conference Keynote welcome, participate in the youth workshops and join in on a supervised tour of the impressive exhibit areas. This is a great opportunity to expose students to leadership and learning opportunities in occupational health and safety, to discuss issues important to youth and work, and to learn about career opportunities.
Interested? Take a minute to complete the online reservation on the home page listed above. Doing this doesn't commit you to the day but it does reserve a spot for you and your students. We will have much more information available next Fall.
