Sexual abuse remains a pervasive issue within society, impacting various aspects of our lives. Yet, it is essential to emphasize that child sexual abuse is preventable. Safeguarding students requires a comprehensive approach, and everyone in the community, whether a principal, teacher, custodian, volunteer, or community member, shares the responsibility of reporting suspected grooming behaviors and abuse. If anything seems concerning, it is imperative to report it promptly. Whether you witness abuse, it is disclosed to you, you suspect it, hear rumors, or notice boundary violations, contact your Designated Licensed Administrator and DHS immediately. If there is any suspicion of wrongdoing, report it without hesitation. For additional guidance on reporting requirements, recognizing grooming behaviors, and available Sex Abuse Prevention training options, visit the PACE website or reach out to the Sex Abuse Prevention Consultant, McKenzie Nix, at [email protected]. Stay vigilant, be kind, and together, we can address and prevent such incidents.

What is PACE?
The Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA) and the Special Districts Association of Oregon (SDAO) formed PACE in 2006 and are working together to keep Oregon students safe, reduce risks and conserve member resources.
No one can match the expertise and decades of experience that OSBA and SDAO bring to property-casualty coverage for local public entities.
OSBA formed the first property-casualty pool coverage for education in Oregon in 1985 and has served education entities for more than 20 years. SDAO has provided coverage for local governments since the mid-1980s and now provides coverage for more than 850 entities, adding schools in 2003 to fill a coverage gap left when a major insurer pulled out of the state.
By merging programs, OSBA and SDAO formed the largest property and liability risk pool of school entities in the state, with more than 200 education organizations.
Child sexual abuse is a pervasive societal problem. It is also one of the more uncomfortable conversations that need to happen not only in society, but in educational settings as well. This webinar training will discuss statistics, the grooming process, how to spot a predator in the context of institutions, and how to help prevent sexual abuse from occurring in your school.
