Do you know what warning signs to look for in individuals who have experienced or are currently experiencing sexual abuse? Recognizing these signs of distress is necessary to help children and young adults navigating the complexities of growing up. Particularly in incidents of sexual abuse or assault.

The articles listed below from RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) aim to equip caregivers and concerned individuals with the essential knowledge to identify signs of potential sexual abuse or an abusive relationship. Individuals and organizations can create a safer environment for students by providing them with the assistance they need.

“Because of societal taboos, for many years we’ve faced an uphill battle in reporting grooming behaviors that place young people in harm’s way,” says PACE Administrator Dave Harvey. “As a society we need to do better, and as an institution PACE is committed to leading the way.”

Today's Tip: Egress Lighting: Add it to the Checklist

During an evacuation is the worst time to discover that your egress lighting needs to be replaced. Fortunately, avoiding this problem is simple: start incorporating monthly egress lighting checks into your routine safety checks. Don’t delay when you find a faulty light and replace inoperable fixtures immediately.

For more information on safety inspections, email riskmanagement@sdao.com.
